Reflections of a Millennial pastor.

The Psalm of the Soul

I will also praise you with the harp
for your faithfulness, O my God
I will sing praises to you with the lyre,
O Holy One of Israel
My lips will shout for joy
when I sing praises to you,
my soul also
-Psalm 71:22-23

Music is at the center of much of Christian worship. This is no accident. Singing and joining in musical euphoria is a transcendent experience that pushes us beyond ourselves, no matter what our beliefs may be. How much more is this the case for people of faith! Our hymns and psalms connect us with the Divine in unique and powerful ways.

If you find a song emanating from your soul, feel free to hum along. Do not hinder it, but let it ring out. Let your soul sing freely and greatly. In the freedom of that song you will find God.
